- TIPPull one of the steering lines so that the kite stalls.
Bar & Lines #
Wing Tip Connection #
Change the steering pressure, doesnt change the steering speed
- Doesn't change the steering speed of the kite
- These have an effect on the steering pressure of the kite
- At end of tip = lighter steering pressure
- More to the inside = more steering pressure
Short Bar #
- Good for small kites
- Slow steering on big kites
- Awesome for doing unhooked tricks
Wide Bar #
- Good for big kites
- Nervous on small kites
Launching #
- Launch with one hand on the bar, other hand on the chicken loop eject.
Inspection #
-
Center lines should be untangled and unobstructed
-
Steering lines should be unobstructed and have a little bow by the wind.
-
[IMP] This bow in steering lines is important. If the lines are completely tensed up this is a sign of the steering lines being too short.

Body Dragging #
Beach Starts #
- Step in start Beach twinntip start
- Drop the board onto the water slightly upwind.
- Step in with the front foot whilst keeping the kite at 12.
- Pull the bar slightly to generate lift whilst sliding your backfoot in.
- Move the kite down and generate pull.
- Dock start
- Comes from the wakeboard dock start..
- Step into the board kite at 12.
- Move the kite down fast towards the direction you wish to ride.
- Lean on your front foot and jump of it.
- Pull in your legs towards your chest and land.
- Jump start Beach jump start
- Place board crosswind with nose slightly upwind.
- Kite should be high when standing on the board.
- Drift the kite slowly down.
- Pull on the bar and move the kite up to 12, whilst resisting the pull by leaning your body backwards.
- Simultaneously whilst leaning back level the bar and extend your arms.
- When the kite hits 12 jump up and pull your bar.
- Rotate your body to land and generate pull with the kite in the direction you will ride.
- Fancy (easy?) jump start
- Run slightly upwind to generate pull in the kite.
- As the kite lifts you up, pull in the bar and jump.
- Pull in your legs and place the board on your feet.
- Steer the kite down whilst spotting your landing.
- Fancy beach start
Turning #
- No slide turn
- Start edging whilst moving the kite to 12.
- When the kite starts pulling edge more and lean back more.
- This leads to a stand still whilst the kite travels past 12.
- Shift weight and travel in the other direction.
- Toe -> Heel Carve
- Heel -> Toe Carve
Toe Riding #
- Learn toeside riding
- Pop toeside
- Kite @ 11 (high)
- Crosswind Edge (not upwind)
- Release front hand
- Start edging by dropping weight back
- Push hard on the back leg
- You want to have a little pop of the water and when that happens turn your lower body and land
- Resist the urge to pull the bar when transitioning. You make it happen, not the pull of the kite.
Popping #
- In depth
- Keep kite at 10/11
- Keep hands close to the bar center
- Carve upwind
- Stomp down on the board (especially with the backfoot)
Landing #
- Pops can help you with practicing how to land properly on jumps.
Jumping #
-
The kite should rip you off the water itself when doing a proper jump.
-
The more power you can hold in your edge the bigger the jump.
-
Edge harder by pushing your backleg more.
-
Pull in the bar when the kite is above your head.
-
Apply soft pressure on your front hand whilst in the air.
-
Point the board downwind while landing.
-
If the kite falls out of the sky let go of the bar completely and wait for it to crash.
